About Christine

Christine RedfernI  trained as a secondary school teacher and taught for thirty seven years in comprehensive schools, in Pupil Referral Units for excluded students and worked  for a Behaviour Support Service in Nottinghamshire for fourteen years before working independently as a Behaviour Consultant and Psychotherapist – my current status.

Over the years I have worked with young offenders in a voluntary capacity and used my talent as a singer/songwriter to produce a CD of songs and project pack I wrote for a County-wide drug education project for schools.

I have written many songs for young people I have worked with and sang three of them at the conference for the International Integrative Psychotherapy Association  in Grantham in 2013. Many people requested a CD of my music but I didn’t have a CD with the songs on so I recorded an album in 2013 called ‘Your Life – Making Contact Through Songs’ that is available from www.ypdbooks.com

I also performed  a new song I wrote for the International Conference in April 2015 in Bilbao entitled ‘Crisis Hope & Celebration’ that can be viewed on my Youtube account 60Tilley along with other songs I have written. There are also some well-known songs on my you tube account..

I completed a four year Masters course in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Sherwood Institute in Nottingham – finishing with a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. I work independently as a psychotherapist in both primary and secondary schools as well as being available for private practice with adults.

Throughout my own therapy and Psychotherapy training I charted my own journey by writing poetry that will speak to many people – even to people who know nothing about psychotherapy.

‘The poems in ‘Shades of Self – Poetic Integration’ – capture Chris’s humanity and inevitably ours, also capturing a unique insight into the challenges and rewards of a healing process’ (Catherine Austin,Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, Nottingham)

The Foreword has been written by renowned Psychotherapist Richard. G. Erskine who delivers seminars, workshops and training in the USA, Europe and the United Kingdom. Richard is the Training Director of the Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy and co-author of ‘Beyond Empathy’, ‘Integrative Psychotherapy in Action’, ‘The Art and Science of Relationship’ and Relational Patterns, Therapeutic Presence’

In the Foreword Richard says: ‘This book will be an inspiration to psychotherapists. Chris says more in her poems than many books on the theories and methods of psychotherapy.’
